Q: Can A Gunsmith make a prohib revolver "more prohibited" ?

My thoughts.

If you are starting with a prohib anyway & therefore have your 12(6) status, I would think that to change it to a 2" barrel would not be a problem since you are staying in the same class. You would have to advise CFC of the change in barrel length.

I have no idea if a 2" model 10 barrel would be available in Canada . Cannot see much need for a gunsmith to stock them but someone may have one.

Just some thoughts which may be totally wrong.

yes, but I believe that unless the barrel exists, they will have to do it by cutting an existing barrel....costing more. I'm not an expert thought....I don't know if a gunsmith can import a short barrel or not...give armco a call, he'll know if anyone does.

Most gunsmiths have a drawer full of snubby barrel take-offs. A lot of prohibs have been "unprohibited" by owners putting on 4.125" or longer barrels to make the original guns more saleable in Canada.

That's my understanding too. So if you could do it it would theoretically have to be a cut - down operation. i'm no expert though.

I'd be curious to see the written ruling on that, because the barrels are a part for a firearm that can still be legally owned, so why couldn't a gunsmith have a warehouse full of them?

"...why couldn't a gunsmith have a warehouse full of them?..." Because he can't easily sell them. Stuff sitting in a box on a shelf just collects dust.

(?)

What does having a warehouse full of anything have to do with selling anything in a legal context?

A gunsmith "can't" have a warehouse full of them because he "can't easily sell them'.

Is that what you are saying?

Because that seems to be your statement.
