noobish question here for you guys, what are the main differences between a diemaco 15.7" C8A3 and a colt LE6920 16". I don't quite understand the $700 price difference between these 2 rifles from looking at the specs.

Not much. Canadian carbine has better quality barrel, but it really doesn't matter for any average user.

yes it does... :p

and its made in Canada

ill just leave this here... that Colt USA was from a member here...

Ok. You not going to get better accuracy out of C8 nor you can afford to buy enough ammo to kill either of these barrels.

Colt barrels are required to group 4 MOA or better to pass QC, Diemaco barrels are required to group 2 MOA or better to pass.

An untouched Canadian barrel blank costs more than a completed M4/6920 barrel assembly.

The Canadian barrel is cold hammer forged with an improved chamber, and is choked down at the muzzle for greater accuracy and reliability. The chrome is thicker and different for better wear resistance and cold weather performance.

Also, the Diemaco is made in Canada by Canadians in a factory that makes 600 a month as opposed to an american made gun made in a factory that makes 600 a day.

The SA 15.7 also has the identical hardened steel M203A1 sleeve that is issued to the CF on the C8A3. This tends to dampen barrel harmonics and makes for an extremely accurate rifle.

So you will likely get better accuracy out of the C8 barrel.

C8 has slightly better velocity. Longer barrel and choke bore.
C8 has thicker chrome lining
C8 has a heavy profile barrel. The SOCOM profile M4 is similar

15.7" is supposed to be a accuracy node vs 16 or 14.5 inch barrels

That being said, the M4 can be just as accurate, as I have the luck of having a true M4A1 upper (SOCOM) profile, that is better than mil spec MOA.
haven't had my 15.7 over longer ranges yet to test, but they are very accurate barrels, and should out shoot the M4.

Hammer forged barrels have double the life of button cut, but as civilians I doubt any off us will shoot out either barrel.

listen to matt k, he works for colt Canada he should know

Very interesting info. I think I'll have to buy one now ;)

BTW, is the barrel in the IUR that's being sold now the same as the one in the "regular" Diemaco SA15.7?

First and foremost: I own both

Major main difference:
On the Colt 6920 I can only get 2 moa if I free float the barrel otherwise its about a 4 moa rifle. Also as the barrel gets hot, and I mean HOT, the groups open from 2 moa up to about 7 moa.

On the SA15.7 its 2 moa straight out of the box. Also as the barrel gets hot, and I meam HOT, the groups open up from 2 moa to 3 moa.

.................................cold.........hot
so if 6920 free float: ...2 moa......7 moa
on the sa15.7:............2 moa......3 moa

What does that mean to you?

No comparison on the rifles I've shot. The C8 is far more accurate.
