Qagvik(Wolverine) Defense choice ...

I'm serious I'd like to know what you folks would consider a choice calibre rifle in defence of a qagvik(wolverine) attack ... say you're skinning, gutting and cutting up your deer, caribou, whatever and one of these wee nasty buggers pounces upon your catch?

Shotgun 12g with short (rifled) barrel and buckshot. See I got the rifle part in there. Do you really see them that often? I thought they were a tree line animal.All the pics I've seen of yours have been treeless.
 
Hmmm.....

I'd have to go with a shotty I guess with 00 Buck. I killed a badger once with #2 Steel shot once, took 3 shots, one from 7, then 5, then 3 yrds to finally 'git r dun'..... I almost crapped myself! :D

Wolverines are harder to kill than Badgers.... right?

Unless of course we are talking about a young P.S. in the woods of America being hunted by the 'evil' commies...... Then I would have to say it's not nice to shoot Wolverines...... :D

X2... I've got a nice wolverine pelt and wolverine jacket, claws and all..it's pretty old,...one of the wolverines were shot with a .22lr

I'd be thinking buckshot...
 
Well, I can't say that I have tons of experience in being attacked by Wolverines, but if I knew ahead of time I was going to be jumped by one, I'd like to have a 12 Ga. Since we're not talking 100 yards here, or even 15 yards, I'm not sure it would matter too much the shot size, but I use #2 for everything.

fishers, wolverines, badgers,...

I was parked on top of a couple of badgers once and thought they were going to come up through the floor,... god help me if a wolverine comes lookin''
 
Coach gun with slugs!

That close any shot isn't going to have patterned any, and you won't have much time to get off more than a couple shots. Might as well deliver two Brenneke slugs then take it on hand to hand with your skinning knife or swing at it with the gun.
 
something in a lever, 45-70, maybe. .450 marlin, .444 . Minimum 350 gr. solid. Try for two between the eyes. How about .475. If a .577 can stop an elephant, it might work on wolverine
