I'm installing Warne QD rings on my pair of CZ527 223 rifles and planning to install Weaver QD and base on a pair of Handis. 3 of the rifles have iron sights so access is nice but mainly to share different scopes between rifles.

Any opinions or tips sure are welcome? I do not expect them to return to perfect zero, contrary to ad hype. I am wondering how much variation is to expected. This is for group shooting so some variation is ok.

Questions like does dry reinstall work better than a light lube when reinstalling pop into mind? Both systems have positive recoil stops.

I have Leupold quick detach on my 30-06. I shot twice from took scope off and put back on. Put the 3rd shoot between the first two. That was off a crapy rest so I don’t have any Major conclusions but I think they work good enough for hunting.

I have no experience with Warne, but for the last 10 years I have been using Leopold QRW rings on my .308 Rem 760. The rifle is zeroed for 100 yards, the scope comes on/off several times a year during shooting and I have never had to touch the dials again since I sighted it in a decade ago.

Thanks, I chose Warne because they make a mid height ring for the CZ527, most are rather tall. This is encouraging but a new consideration popped up. On the Alberta Outdoorsman forum a member pointed out what was immediately obvious. I had not considered the impact of sharing the scopes between two rifles. It would be a miracle if they were both machined identically. That will be looked into once the install is done.

The biggest issue will be keeping track of the scope adjustments for each scope/rife combination, and hopefully your scopes all track consistently.

I have one set of Leupold that I use for a Weaver Classic V3 on the receiver of my Mossberg 535 when shooting with a rifled slug barrel. Expectations of accuracy from a slug gun with a removable barrel are not as high as from a rifle, but within that context, I think the rings are working as advertised.

I've always found the Leupold QRW rings to go back to within 1MOA, usually much less. I've recently started to play with some Talleys and have similar good results with them. Surprisingly, even good old-fashioned Weaver rings, (the kind that take forever to get your scope level, and have the big thumbscrew on the side) give pretty much the same results. I make a point of applying a bit of forward pressure to the scope/ring assembly when replacing it, to make sure it seats against the front the mount as consistently as possible.

I've not been nearly as happy with Leupold QR rings, which have a stud on the bottom of the rings with the levers on the base rather than the rings themselves. They start out okay, but seem to begin wearing out very quickly, with return-to-zero getting worse as time goes by. Okay if you want to sight-in a spare "just-in-case" scope and have it ready for hunting; not so great if you play "musical scopes", always looking for that perfect combo and swapping them around like Legos. :)
