I'm curious what your thoughts are on Quick Release Leupold 30mm rings? I have a set and am thinking of putting them on my M14 so I can remove to use iron sites if needed. Apparently they are suppose to hold zero once removed and put back on ... anyone have experience with these rings and info?

So you have removed from the rifle and put back on without losing zero? Thanks for any help/info/experience.

they've worked fine for me on a couple of 700s. no zero change

leupold also had another QR system (dont' know if they still make it) but that was a disappointment to me - on one set the locking lever would spin right around.

make sure the QRW set you get is the newer one with the square cross posts - I one wiound up with an early one that has round cross posts

I have to admit, I would never have voluntarily bought a set of these rings because I typically loc-tite the snot out of everything on a scope mount, but they were the only rings I could find on short notice about a year ago and i put them to use with very surprising results!

I am now able to move my scope between all my rifles with Farrell bases and it works great! I have zeros for 3 different guns and I can easily move the scope (NF 12-42X56 BR scope) between several guns now with no problem at all.

I really like 'em.

I'll take pics tonight and post ... and check the actual name of them ... hope they're good to go ... ;)

Have the QRW's holding down a S&B scope on my .444 and I've pounded the scope and myself half to death with handloads. Scope has never moved - pretty slick setup, and mine's on Weaver bases which ain't my favorite brand of anything, but all I could find locally. All the same, it seems to be working just fine.

I went to the range today to site in my new scope with these rings on it ... I shot twice ... drove up to the backboard with my target as it's 100 yards away and it was approx -15 with the windchill ... backed up and hit my dog ... :( ... needless to say I never got to finish siting in this scope and see how these rings are!? I shall have to make another run to the range soon ... :(
