I picked up a Daniel Defense V5 from the latest batch (lower receive marked 556) earlier this week and the quad rail was incredibly light. I am hoping to order the same one for my build but I can't seem to figure out which one. On their catalogue, its listed as the Daniel Defense M4 rail, however, it doesn't have the 6 mounting brackets.

Any ideas?

Should be the Omega X 12" rail, at least that's what it was on mine but I had the older batch of 223 marked ones. I may or may not have heard a rumor that the rail was changing, not sure.

The older ones (what Stevebot-7) has was a Omega X 12.0. The newer ones are DDM4 rail but is not sold separately. I say LITE rail is a close resemblance and a superior one too.

You'd appreciate a lightweight barrel or a shorter barrel much more than the few ounces you save between versions. Just my 2 cents of course.

The previous generation of DDM4's used the Omega X rails. The new rifles use a rail system specifically for their DDM4 rifles called DDM4 Rail. I believe they're very similar to their Omega X system, but with a few slight modifications (ie. forward sling mounts).

I don't think they sell the DDM4 Rail by itself. Closest thing would be the Omega X rail. Both handguards are very lightweight.

im actually using a custom made feather weight profile middy barrel :D I'm currently using the daniel defense omega rail 12.0 and its front heavy. The reason why I want the DDV5 is because that set up already points so nicely with its standard profile barrel. I have already tried adding weights to my Magpul STR stock and the balance is still off :/ Part of me wants to buy the DDV5 and gut the barrel so theres less experimenting

I say try cutting off the front of the rail, inch by inch, till you're happy ;) don't forget the pics

Switch to the ddm4 rail. It's their newest design with front and rear qd mounts built into the rail, not only is it light weight,It's also very thin ans feels amazing In your hand
