I have been looking into getting another M4. Still kinda of iffy yet about XCR, so I have been looking at Q.C. from Armalite and Bushmaster. I have no experience with Bushmaster, but I had an armalite and it worked very well.
A few magazine articles I have read noted problems with Bushmaster and feed issues, which the authors remedy was some dremel or file work, as two different magazines and authors had this problem with two different calibre Bushmasters. I research a little before I commit to a purchase. Has anyone else noted feed issues with their Armalite or Bushmasters?
I read a really good article about Q.C. at ARmalite. Is this just a random occurence, or should I be concerned. You would think a rifle sent to a magazine for evaluation would go over their product before allowing it to be critiqued.....?

I remember reading once that Bushmaster often had barrels with parkerizing inside the barrel, i.e. When parkerizing they didn't plug it completely.

I have an Armalite myself and I am very happy with it. 1000 rounds through and not a single failure. I think that from the top AR15 manufacturers, Armalite is best bang for the buck. Bushmaster is overpriced and Colt even more so.

I think everyone at one point or another has heard good stories and bad stories about just about every manufacturer.

I have Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt & Oly Arms(9mm). All work without a hickup.

I see no difference between my ABC brands except the color of the colt which is more grey.
Oly Arms looks painted (while I am sure it's not), fit and finish is ok but not great, the upper receiver flattop rail is not to mil1913 spec. Mag well was not machined great, worked but not refined.

Armalite parts are by far the easiest to get.
A few Cdn suppliers now offer Stag, RRA, Armalite, Busmaster complete rifles.

I recently purchased a new Bushmaster 16" heavy barrel carbine and noticed that the barrel extension was quite rough - it appears that it was parkerized too much, and the feed ramps scrape the hell out of the bullet as it moves into the chamber. (Don't freak out - yes there are rounds in there, it was at a range)

Compare this to my Armalite barrel extension.

Though I have yet to have a feeding problem with the Bushy, it is just interesting that something like this gets through inspection, or is intentionally allowed through.
Like someone said, it is hard to go wrong with any of the big names.
