Just bought an Altan safety something ground blind. It has been bought far from home.

I can see light inside in many places. The material is cheap. There are small pin size holes in a lot of places and along the sewing.

I will use it in 2 weeks for dear hunting only if we have heavy rain.

How can I make the top water tight ?

Any brands I could look out for for next year ?

I treated the skirting and top of my ice fishing tent with a aerosol waterproofing spray, the stuff meant for fabrics and boots. Works pretty good, butr depending how big the holes are maybe something like shoe goo would work better.

muddy the bale blind, I use it for deer , coyotes, elk, geese,
has room for three guys, sit inside in an arm chair, I use a big buddy heater inside , its warm
it is awkward for one person to handle, and load and haul around , unless you use a trailer

I use an Ameristep Hayhouse blind, fits in its own backpack, weighs about 6-7 pounds, I can set it up in less than 5 minutes, fits three people in a pinch, lots of room for two, easy to grass up. Couple of stools and a big buddy heater, good to go! I picked it up from Cabelas about 4 years ago , think I paid about $150 on sale, still not a rip or tear in it, I would buy another for sure

Hey ! Another question about ground blinds. Is it OK to shoot firearms through them windows screen mesh and NOT turn deaf ?

I have 3 Ameristep Dog House blinds. There not perfect but they do the rick. I can sit inside mine and see light around the stitching as well. Surprisingly because of the steep slope of the roof it rarely leaks much even in a good rain so I have never sealed the seams. The zippers are the big issue as they freeze and are noisy. I have shot through the material of the blind by mistake, as I thought the end of the barrel was out and it wasn't. Not a big deal, now we have a 44cal hole and some powder burns below the one window zipper. Never where hearing protection as I never thought the sound of the shot was amplified by the blind. Except for the one time the end of the barrel is always 6 -8" out the zippered window anyways. Which I imagine greatly cuts down the sound effects.
They are definitely not bear proof as all 3 of mine got flattened this fall by two playfull cubs. They hit all three in one night one blind twice. Got the little beggars on camera. Had to bring them in for extensive repairs. Bought some camo canvas from a boat top place and contact cemented the material over the rips. repaired the one broken pole with wooden dowel. All three are back out in the bush as we speak. Seems Momma bear and the cubs have gone to bed for the winter, no more midnight raiding issues.
Ever since my friend fell out of a tree stand, a chain broke, and was paralyzed, I have hunted out of ground blinds, then the worst that can happen is I fall asleep and fall out of my chair.
