quality of Norinco 1911A1

the last time I seen a Norinco 1911 gun the look like junk, now that it is 5 years later have the Norinco 1911A1 gotting better? if the answer is yes how?

The "look" has improved but I still consider them minor project guns that require some de-horning and ideally a re-finish but that is optional....if "looks" are real important too you and that trumps value then consider paying double or more for a gun that "looks" good from the start...

Decent value for the money...NO question about it.

I would buy for a little more bucks a real 1911 made in US of A and NOT a China clone.
long time ago I've been there, bought the Norincos (three) and sold all of them as fast as I could say "junk" ...not my piece of good manuf QC
IMO for 600. you can buy a brand new AO or Para
good luck !

Ok guys the reason for my question was this, My plan was to take the frame Only!! and build a quality rimfire gun, I was just planning to buy a Browning buckmark and install a C-more sight on it for shooting steel plates but after looking at a Kimber factory rimfire, I was thinking of just getting a 1911 much easier to get a holster for a 1911 gun then finding a holster for a buckmark w/ a C-more sight.

as to the finish on a new frame be it a brand name or a Norinco frame I was thinking of getting it refinished anyways in a FDE color

I like the Norincos, Clark and Wilson both recommended them for base guns for a custom build, that to me says alot. There are also quite a few people in the states that would love to get there hands on them again, there will always be the "Made in China" Haters though.

My only beef with them is that I find the sights too small, well that and the total lack of NP29's but that's another issue.

Buy a Norinco from Marstar. $325 Gets you a complete gun, then if you want you can sell the upper and the mags on the EE, its probably your best bet for a complete lower. It will cost you more in the long run to piece one together. Freedom Ventures sells STI Bare Frames.
