Has anyone received one of these recently arrived 14" barreled 870 clones?

How well does it feed and extract?

What is the quality and finish like?

Is the HP9 a clone of a Wingmaster or Express?

I just received one last week. It is the first scattergun I have owned or shot so I don't have anything to compare it against.

I have put about 150 rounds through it so far, mostly #7.5 and 8 target loads, but with about 25 rnds each of OO buck and slugs. With the slugs and buckshot it kicks like a SOB, I'm hoping a R3 recoil pad will take away some of the bite.

Feeding is good, cycles smooth and have had no problems. Extraction has occasionally been a problem, but as it only occurs with one type of ammo (Win #7.5 target loads) I think it is an ammo specific issue. These shells have a thin metal band rather than the thick copper band the other loads I have used do.

Initial quality and finish are excellent, I was impressed. Time will tell how durable it is. A buddy of mine has had one for some time, he and his boys put 4 cases of Win #7.5 through it in the first 6 weeks they had it with no problems.

Anyways, they are a blast to shoot, scare the crap out of zombies and the price is right, Marstar had mine to me in less than 3 weeks.

Cheers,
Mike

Yeah, but you seem to say that of all your shotguns:p

And I always say: When will you be selling me one of yours Rys'?:D

Never, but there is one in the EE you might like to look at:p

Mine was from the last batch imported. It is a decent shooter. My only gripe was a defective ejector spring, and undersized ejector. The spring didn't have the flat section at the step where the ejector should make contact with the rim. Instead, it was simply a hump. Only high brass would eject.

Is marstar repairing these defective ejectors?

I have absolutely no idea if mine was the only one, or one of many. I bought mine NIB but second hand from another member here. I never bothered Marstar with it.

The one I saw looked great. Fit and finish looked good, and the bead was a nice high vis gold. If I didn't already have a shortie I would have taken a chance on it.

I just ordered a 14" Norinco 870 clone from Marstar.

I have decided to retire my Mossberg 500A after a failure to extract (again!) during a run in the Dangerous Game Match in the Hunting and Sporting arms Forum.

I don't trust it any longer and will only use it for grouse and rabbits and perhaps for launching bear deterrent flares, whistles and bangers.

Hopefully the quality of the new 870 clones is as good as the HP9-1's.

I lost my bead shooting trap, seems to be a common problem

My HP9 was from an early batch, bought it about 4 yrs ago.

Can someone do an honest direct comparison to the Express models? I can't recall seeing one on the site and it would be nice to see a side-side quality and interchangeability comparison. I haven't tried a Norinco for bear defence just because I don't know them well enough and haven;t had a chance to check them out ....if it worked fine I would be happy to save a couple of hundred $$ over a 14" Express/Dlask combo.

Cheers

the new batch is selling for $345.

I could have sworn the frist batch were only $250??

or am I totaly wrong?

I guess they relized the demand and cranked the price.

I can't see how lossing the bead while shooting trap would be common. I mean how many idiots would even try using it for trap??? :D :D :D

(yes I'm pretty sure you ment the falling off was coming, not necessarily just in trap :p )

well it is one of the better norincos
would i bet my lif on it??
NOT A CHANCE!
its like there 1911 handguns
change eveything and thn you have a good gun.
min things to do are
polish the chamber
new mag spring and follower
drill out that stupid thing in the mag tube
change the ejectors and exstractor and springs for the exstractor
new site bead that done snap off
All the other stuff i could say to do to it would just make it a better gun, these are "have to" if you planing to use if for bear, zombie or other 2 leged badguys.
I think you would be better of with a used wingmaster and a 14" dlask barrle.

Why not just buy an 870?

Especially when an Express is about 380 bucks. Mind you, they sport an 18" barrel and not the cool 14" one but I'd rather be alive and nerdy lookin' than cool lookin' and dead...

Sounds like you just need a new ejector.
