Quality pistol under $500 ...recommendations ?

Two highly underrated 9mm striker fire polymer handguns that can typically be found at the $500 mark , usually with a few mags and a holster no less , are the FN FNS9 ( or the FNS9LS for the long slide ) and the Canik TP9SA . Both are fine shooters and the Canik actually has a fantastic trigger for the price. Either of those may just fit your wife’s grip nicely which is foremost. If it doesn’t fit her grip it won’t matter how good or cheap it is .

Thanks all for your inputs.

She likes the FNX-9 a lot.
Now for the same price I have found a CZ75 SP01 Phantom.

What do you guys think of this polymer CZ ?

Its pretty good. Aggressive texturing, great trigger, my only grip is the mag release is pretty stiff.
Unless you're talking about the P07

I have the Remington rp9. I have not had any failures on it with approx 300 rounds through it. It's big and the trigger is different but it is a fine gun for the price.

I've also seen the sd9ve sub 300 on the EE recently.

I've never owned the rp9, but I've read enough bad reviews to stay far away from it, as far as the sd9 goes I have owned one, sold it a week after I got it. Not only does it have a crappy plastic guide rod, but it also has the worst trigger on any gun I've ever fired, the only thing worst would probably be a mosin revolver in double action. Point in case friends don't let friends buy sd9's

I have not had any problems mentioned in the reviews except the slide stop release on the right side does not work. It only works on the left side. Not a big deal to me.

Canik if your limit is strict at $500. I am a Shadow owner and love it but I have owned a tp9sa in the past and that gun rocks. Well built and great trigger. One of the best buys in the firearms world.

I have an RP9 and have not had a single problem with it. I'm surprised at the accuracy, too. For the money I paid, (299 after rebate) I'm quite happy. There are good and bad reviews for it online. The bad reviews were early in the production. Later reviews were better.
