Quality Shotgun??

LEE PETERSON: Can you post me a link to the Stoeger P-350's at sirmailorder. I can't seem to find them. I do like the fact that the Stoeger's can handle 2 3/4" right up to 3 1/2" shells. I held a remington 870 express magnum in black synthetic today, I wasn't too impressed to say the least!! Can anyone post any info they have on the Stoeger P-350 I would really like to learn more. Also I am in a toss up between a 26" and 28" barrel for the purposes I mentioned at the top of the page, what would be best??

If I was getting a pump right now I think I would go with the Winchester 1300. Reasonable price, good fit and finish and has that nifty 'speed pump' rotating bolt action release.

Weather resistance

Sav Man we have all been hunting for a hundred years with wood stocks and sure they can take as much pounding as synthetic can. You just have to clean them off a little better when you are finnished shooting

Ohhh boy!!

Ohhh jeeez, i've been reading my a$$ off about the Remington 870 express magnum and the Stoeger P-350 and seem to find a great following for both. I like the Stoegers for the money and can't argue with the chokes included!! However I like the tradition of the Rem 870 express and its aftermarket availability. I read that the trigger guards are a composite material on the 870, is this true?? If so why would they do this?? Can it be changed out for a metal one in the aftermarket?? I really need some more reviews and info on both these guns. Please post what you have!! Thanks

I'm with you Savage man I've been reading my a$$ off too. I found a Rem 870 Super mag Synthetic for 343 with a 30" barrel, so I'm going with that. There just isn't enough after market barrels, etc for the stoegers.

Sir mail order has a rem 870 S mag with 28" barrel and wood stocks for $379, you get a $50 mail in rebate, if your not in winnipeg you only pay 7% tax. :D

Savage you should get the super magnum rem 870. I just bought 1 and the action is smoooooth. Plus it comes with a built in trigger lock which is sweet. I paid
$350 plus tax for mine and I got a free gun sock :D

You can probably find at least 2 used 870 Wingmasters inthe EE forums right now. I'd also be willing to bet that both will be under $500. Well under.

Hi! I went with the Synthetic one. I can't wait to fire them Kent fast steel 3 1/2" mags outta it should be a blast :D.

Here's some pics. :D

BigMan I don't think the Wingmasters are 3 1/2 inch?

dn't see the 3.5" proviso.

I have an auto loader in 3.5" and to be honest I don't shoot 3.5" shells hardly ever. In fact, if I shoot 1/2 dozen a year it's because they were in my pockets. The added expense doesn't give you much reward. But if you want 3.5" get the express 3.5"

I think the 3.5 would be better for geese and Turkey use the extra pellets never hurt. I just got some kent 3 1/2 #1 steel shot for $24 not that bad for 25 shells.

Great Pics!!

Hey thanks alot that gun looks great!! I know I am going to get an 870 express mag aswell. I am in kind of a toss up between the wood and synthetic. Love the looks of wood but cant argue with the weather beater synthetic!! Do you know if the magnums chamber is any larger than a standard express?? If yes does that make the pump stroke longer?? Also Lee, what size barrel is that on your shottie??

I think if they had wood I would got myself the wood 1. The synthetic butt stock sounds hollow, with wood you could sand it and then stain it. By the looks of it the chamber is way bigger but i've never had a 3" just a 2 3/4" semi auto.

Have you considered the Russian Shotguns? They are made for our harsh weather and will take some abuse. I have had mine for a number of years. Armrus.com are running a christams sale you can have both an O/U and a semi for $550 Canadian. The semi even comes with all the chokes.

As for what choke to use when just remember full choke gives you a tighter shot while no choke gives you a wide shot. The smaller your intended target the wider of a shot you will need.

Good Luck & safe Hunting
