My duplicator isn't finished, and I need a stock copied. I have the pattern, and can supply the laminate blank - what I need is a guy who is fairly quick (not backed up for years) and who does good work.

*Only looking for recommendations from people who have actually had it done*

Feel free to private message me, if you would rather not post publically.

David Henry has Ron Propp's duplicator. He is around Bentley. Rolf Martini has one, he is in Cranbrook. A fellow in Saskatchewan has Robinson's duplicator, I cannot remember his name.

The guy in Saskatchewan is probably M&S Stocking in Leader, Saskatchewan

MS stocking is Kerry Stricker. He is very capable and does an excellent job. You might not get it fast. I don't think he has Robinson arms duplicator tho. It went nearer Saskatoon. There is also a guy just out of Camrose but the name I can't think of at the moment.

I had 3 stocks done by Alberta Gun Stock about 10 months ago. They were all 2 piece stocks, I was not disappointed with the results. I have seen some of their work on long military duplication's and I thought it looked pretty good. I think it took Bill about 2 month's to get the work done . They have other employment. Bill and Rick have Harvey Trace's old equipment.
They are in New Norway. PM for more info.

As my grandmother used to say "if you want a job done right do it yourself" why not just finish your pantograph that you've got going and that way you wont be at the mercy of someone else's backlog. Advise from a true procrastinator, regards D.H.

That would be Robert Willson at Harris, Sk between Rosetown and Saskatoon, I could maybe find a # if required.

I'm going to guess that, like most of us, he has no time to spare...:)

Hate to ask, but who or what is flying pig?

Another guess. http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/member.php/98672-flying-pig

I will be finishing my machine this winter (may be building two) but I am trying to finish up a few projects that were started long ago first....

Thank you Blargon, after checking your link - my guess is you are right.

double gun, In light of your predicament and also the advancement of your education allow me to offer you a full days access to my stock duplicator. There's a chance it may influence the design of the machine or machines you currently have under construction and also give you a better understanding of the procedures involved. I would expect a small payment for consumables and be prepared to be at the job for 6 to 8 hours for the degree of precision you seek to attain. Oh and bye the way if you look anything like your avatar my dog wont let you get out of your truck. Regards David Henry.

I appreciate the offer, I believe you misunderstood my original post about quality work. However the last guy I used left 1/8" gaps around all the inletting, and that is not satisfactory. Perhaps my expectations are too high... My machine is quite simple - I am unsure if the pattern was ever a factory design, but it is patterned after the one Bevan King designed and built. He has been extremely generous to me over the years and has allowed me to photograph, measure and copy whatever I need. My only complaint is he is 6hours away everytime I want to visit.

As for your last sentence - you and your dog wouldn't be racists would you?

Either way, I believe I have found a gentleman to do the job for me. :)

A big thanks to all who private messaged me!

Bevan is a stand up guy for sure he showed me how to grind a piece of HSS so it would not chatter when profiling barrel blanks some 20 odd years ago. Glad you found a solution to your dilemma and you are right 1/8" gaps are not what we are looking for at all. I am not a racist, if anything perhaps the opposite. The dog on the other hand seems to be an independent thinker. Regards D.H.
