I'm not up to speed on rimfire options, in a perfect world I'd have a stainless, takedown .22 Mag of good quality, ideally under $800. Anything like this out there? After a small predator gun small enough to be backpacked broken down, and weatherproof. All the rimfires seem too big/heavy to me, want something more like a pellet gun but .22 Mag.

Put a wanted ad to buy the Marlin 25MB Midget Magnum takedown

Being a Ruger fan... this one is not takedown, but a very fine Win Mag;

This one is not an expensive gun, but is very solidly made and very accurate IME... I also make a quick takedown bolt for these (I can send you one), allows assembly in seconds, tools free;

From comments in the past, you may get a "facial tick" from the next one... again not take down, but solid, stainless, synthetic and accurate;

If you don't opt for the Ruger, the one I would recommend is this one... my son out shoots my Ruger/Savage/H&R/Henry Maggies pretty much everytime out with this gun, I believe that it also comes with a detachable mag... but my son's is the tube fed and I gotta admit, I like it alot... top left of the page;

Are the Stevens favorites chambered in 22mag? that may be another good light choice.

That Marlin would be super-cool, but I'd probably get one of these ^ myself. I have a Savage 93FV which to me, is a nice compromise of accuracy/price but not overly small...and has a heavy barrel.

Appreciate the legwork hoyt, I guess I just have trouble with a 6lb .22 Mag, just wish somebody made a 3lb backpack takedown. .22 Mags all seem to be built like centerfires weight and length wise, I get a lot of opportunities on predators but just need something small, light, and handy enough. Appreciate the midget magnum lead, that's a new one to me.

Ruger Convertible... 35 ounces of pure enjoyment.

100% agree, but they won't put one on an ATC, not enough power, and not allowed to actually shoot an ATC handgun aside form defence. All fun must of course be stopped forthwith when it comes to handguns. If this were Alaska I'd have a long barrel, scoped stainless .22 Mag Ruger single action. They are silly accurate, as good as most rifles if you can rest it right, would be perfect. I love our country but some of the rules are just asinine... Wish rimfire pistols were non-restricted.

how about a henry acu-bolt rifle. Not takedown but stainless/synthetic 4.25 pounds overall lenth 36". these are pretty nice little rifles. Comes in 22lr,22 mag (my choice) , or 17 hmr.

or.... a 22 mag cricket rifle. They make em stainless/synthetic. they're about 3.5 pounds and real short. My son's been shooting a chipmunk 22 since he was 4(he's 12 now) these are the same rifles as the cricket. His is a little tackdriver. He's killed a pile of chickens with that little gun. I think one in 22 mag would be very handy.
