Quarantine Reloading Diary

Impressive!

In the past week loaded 900 .357 magnums, 100 .44 magnums, 50 .460 S&W, and 200 .45 colts. This week planning on loading some 9.3x62 and 300 Weatherby. Also did an inventory, damn, when am I going to get to shoot this, good grief, I want my range to open! Oh well, when the range does open, I won’t have to worry about supply.

Too bad you aren't out here. My bottom two shelves are usually gone by the end of August from shooting gophers (and prairie dogs south of the border).

Then the reloading starts all over again. :p

Edit.... My bad Chas, just noticed most of yours are pistol calibers....

Loaded up 50 more 22-250 w/37g varmint grenades for gopher season.
250 more 9mm to add to the collection.
Single stage.
Have about 2k .223 brass processed and ready to go, but out of bullets....

Been doing a bit each day. I'm almost out of ammo cases..... and room in the ammo cabinet.

Very impressive cabinet! Goals for my gun room by the end of the year hopefully. Plus the hope of being able to finally get into reloading.

Made up 50 rounds of 300 wsm 168 gr.
400 rounds of 223 rem with 40 gr vmax for gophers
And took on the labour of making high quality 6mm rem Ackley brass from 30-06 lapua brass using a wildcat shoulder set back die, lots of annealing and neck turning in stages.

How do you like the 6AI? I am looking to get something like what you have for shooting 400yd+ prairie dogs. My .244 is going to give up one day.....

The 6 AI has been an outstanding gun/cartridge. It all started when my uncle passed down his Rem 788 to me as he favours golf clubs more these days. After shooting it and reading up on the improved version I figured why not?
Mine is built with a shilen barrel spun onto a savage action and a simple rifle basix trigger. 26" 1:8 twist, the mistake I made was building on a short action when I should have gone long action. The current load is the new offering from sierra, 90 gr tipped game king with 53 grains of H4831sc, chronos at 3500 FPS and was great for my antelope hunt last fall, and alot of coyotes this winter- just took one at 367 yards a few weeks ago, Never had one take a step after the shot. It was easy to find multiple different loads for and tune, H4831sc has produced low es&sd, the first break in 5 shot group with a berger 95 hunting vld was .338". Even with cheap Winchester brass and some good prep it was deadly accurate. I've got 9 firings on the with winchester brass and never had to trim them ( almost reason enough to do the improved version). When your 244 has had its day I would recommend giving the improved a try. I did measure case volume before and after forming to AI using H20 and on average about 9.5% to 10% volume/case capacity gain.

I'm currently using H4831SC as well. 48.5gr behind a 58g v-max. 1:12" twist. No idea how fast they go, but it's a tack driver.

Thanks for the info!

And to keep on topic, 100 more 9mm this morning.

Wow!
I was hesitant to start this thread and now am very happy that I did.
Glad to know I am not the only one getting busy working on the parts pile.
(and getting away from the family!)

One rock chucker single stage based and now to get into my 5k of casings to de-prime and full length size.
Learning more each day.
I a only regretting not getting into all this far earlier.
I had a brand new press. all the parts all sitting for two or three years until this prompted me to get going.

Cheers everyone and happy reloading.

Reloaded some OCW test ammo for my A-bolt 270. Need some time and a calm day now. Going to be loading hundreds of 357 mag soon as well, then back to 6.5 Creed, then 9mm.

I envy you, I’m stuck in la la land on the left coast and you are in the great province of Saskatchewan, if it wasn’t for my wife and adult daughter, who love it here for some strange reason, I’d be moving. My mother was born in North Battleford. Count your blessings.

Loaded up 100 plinking rounds of 300 Backout. Annealed a batch of brass and sized about 100 308.

Will be loading more 223 this week as I found more bullets in the cabinet lol

Clamped the press on my table, mixed my own case lube and de-primed and full length resized 500, of my .223 casings. I am kind of proud of myself these last few days.

I think I'll limit myself to 500 cases a day so my weak a$$ arms get used to it.

I've got 100 new Lapua 6.5 CM brass to prep.

Today I deburred and inside chamfered the first 10. It's an awful pace, I know, but this could last a while!

Everything else is loaded, ready to go.

Small world, I grew up just north of NB! It's a sh!thole now though, according to my brother back home.

Got 4 hrs of work today so I'm taking the night off reloading.

By the looks of things, I've got to catch up a bit. A couple of ladder tests, 1 OCW from that, about 100 rounds of rifle. Two trips to the range and follow up notes since this thing took effect.

I honestly never thought I could run out of brass, but if this goes on for more than a month, it just might happen. I guess I wasn't totally prepared... Still got molds, powder and primers for more...
