Quebec poachers nailed in Sask!! 45K in fines!!

This is common place in Saskatchewan: people from Quebec convicted of wildlife crimes. This dose not surprise me, being that Quebec is the most corrupt province in Canada; lot's of fraud, money laundering, hell the Mafia still exist there. It's really to bad that I wasn't the Judge........jail time!

Enough with the broad brush shots at Quebec. I am sure the legitimate hunters from Quebec are just cringing now.
We have too many home grown Saskatchewan poachers to be smug.
Scum poachers are a scourge, and bad press for those who are responsible and ethical.

As a hunting license vendor, I get a list of people who are banned from hunting and whom I'm not supposed to sell to. I can assure you the majority on that list are not from Quebec, they are in fact residents of my province to the extent of 95%. I highly doubt SK is any different.

In regard to nationwide hunting bans, if these guys were charged for waterfowl offences by Environment Canada, then the ban is nationwide. Each province has its own wildlife act, so for deer, antelope, etc. it's not nationwide.

Yes, there is some piling on happening here. Unfortunately though stereotypes exist for a reason. Not all of the trouble was cause by quebec'ers around here, some of them were from New Brunswick :)
I did meet a few french guys camped in the forestry one time. We worked out who would hunt what trails with about three words and a bunch of charades. It was pretty tough deer country, all the power to them.
I sure don't miss the fleet of four door rental trucks pounding the local roads and fields.

Well said I thought the previous poster was way over the top..

I came for the Quebec bashing and found exactly what I was looking for!

Some of the worst hunters I have ever met were born and raised here in Saskatchewan. C'mon guys, don't pretend like this is just a Quebec thing.

I grew up in Quebec, hunted there for over a decade then moved to Saskatchewan. I have seen bad behaviours back home but nothing compared to what I have seen guys do here. I think we can attribute it to the fact that you can often be the only hunter for miles and some guys take advantage of that. Also, Quebec has always had strict trespass laws, something that Saskatchewan didn't really have until now.

This is not a us VS them thing, azzholes speak no particular languages, they're just everywhere.

Had a goof a few years ago in Red Deer city limits arrow a bull moose on an island smaller than a house 1/4 mile from the mall.No license ,no draw in city limits. His escape vehicle was a bicycle.F+W showed up to save the day and shot the bull which turned out to have only a superficial wound from the arrow. Also from Quebec.

Quebec seems to have a high number of rejects i see

Every province has their own poachers, however when a non-resident is visiting and hunting in another province they should take heed to show homage to that province. As mentioned before, Saskatchewan has had it's share of Quebec violators in the past. I don't recall poaching "operations" by people from another province.

Really? Its that common for Quebeckers to drive all the way up to sask? I've never heard of that.

One of the recent Game Warden magazines had an article talking about 3 Quebec men who went to Sask annually and apparently broke many laws and poached many trophy bucks every trip before they were finally busted.

It does seem odd to travel so far. Does Quebec not have trophy whitetails?

How were they let off so easily?

Edit: so they get a slap on the wrist and go on their merry way. #### that. Nail these pieces of #### to the wall.

Glad they got caught and fined.

On the lighter side, I get a kick out of this... “They essentially had trophies from mule deer and bird meat,” said Senior Crown Prosecutor, Matthew Miazga. All animal parts were seized along with their trailer, a .22-caliber rifle, a bow-and-arrow, a buck knife and an ATV."

Funny they bother to list a hunting knife... and not the several other knives and tools they likely had in their vehicle. To list a "buck knife" as such, and not as a "Buck knife".... makes me wonder if the reporter thinks that is a Buck brand knife is some sinister special knife used just for cutting off trophy deer heads. lol
