congrats on the win Omen.

thanks...

I messed up on 2 out of the 3 long courses, and 2 out of the 4 medium... But killed a couple of speed shoots and 1 medium, and I guess that made up for the extra shots on steel elsewhere... :dancingbanana:

Thanks, Omen... and congrats on your win!

It looks like I need alot of practice on swinging targets. I never do well on those, but it is hard to set up practice targets. How do you folks shoot those bloody things?

Also, it appears that Stage 8 wasn't listed on the results page. Was it tossed?

I think it is fair to assume that the stage was tossed due to the timer not picking up the last shots taken around that last wall, right?

I hope my time was not the only one that was... shall we say "irregular".

I know that I have had a few really good stages in my life but a sub-6 second run on that stage was just a little too quick to get un-noticed. Too bad it didn't get noticed sooner and have reshoots ordered.

Still a great match though! My favorite match of the year.

Keep up the great work IPSC Quebec.

the gun worked fine, I'll write up a longer review in the pistol forum soon, about the whole summer's worth of experience.

re stage 8 - I run that in 10.11s, and there is no way that someone could do that in Production in half that time, I don't care if Eric G showed up himself - it would take longer than 5 seconds to just run from the start position to the end, even without shooting...

Looking at my run ( http://www.ipsc-matches.net/ipsc/2006PQ/omen_08.wmv ), ok, I waste maybe 0.75s looking for the last target on the left, and then I could have moved a little faster towards the front right slot, so call it another 0.75s - so, I could have/should have run it in 8.6s. I REALLY can't see anyone being able to cut further 3s off, with a production gun, while getting all the hits... It was just impossible... I mean, I think I had a very good start of the stage, and 5s after the beep, I'm barely half way down the stage...

I'm sad the stage got tossed, I would have preferred to keep it without the impossible scores, but there was no way to have a re-shoot, so Pascal and Mario decided it would be best to just remove the stage from the match. it wouldn't have made any difference on the winner in Prod, since I didn't blow the stage, don't know about other divisions.

couldn't the stage where I FTE'd a classic target of been thrown out ? ;)
or both of them for that matter

haha, I hear you... I have mixed feelings about the sliding chair stage... I thought it was a hoot to look at and shoot, but percentage wise, it was my worst stage of the match... :runaway:

so a stage with a sliding chair? ok I saw the vids, so targets that you slide by are they considered disappearing targets?

No...there was a shooting area at the end of the track where you could get out of the chair and engage the targets...

I'm pissed I played it safe and did the mag change before hitting the activation popper on that stage. I figured I could make the mag change but chickened out. Not that I would have done much better anyways :( .

I took 1 classic target, than 1 poppoer, than the activator popper & than the last classic target, than reloaded, as the was a delay before chair started to move. I was going to chicken out too, but then was reminded by a buddy, that I could do it  (actually, lots of time ;) ) I got it right :D

I've posted some videos on the other Quebec prov. thread.

I had a screwup on the chair stage, and I had to do two (yes TWO) mag changes at the top, and there was plenty of time... I wish I had known that ahead of time... ;)

2Filthy getting stages thrown out. Storm is weilding. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Q. If 2Filthy gets one of Storms stage throw out, does that meam Storm is going to wield him some special shoes.

2Filthy had nothing to do with it, it was the RO and/or score keeper who didn't pay enough attention, that's all...

Stage 8 explained

Hello guys,
I am told that my time was the reason for stage 8 being pulled.
If that is correct then my time was 7.28 second, not in the sixes and yes it is possible. The RO who ran me double checked the timer and I believe he also looked at the number of shots fires. Since I was not asked to re-shoot then, he must have been satisfied. The time is real, you just have to think a little outside of the box.
What I did was engage the first target and then take a step back and to the left. This put me on a small hill, and with my height of 6' 2" allowed me to engage all five targets on the left side without moving. Then run to the end and engage the remaining targets. No time consuming stops in between. That is how the 7+ second time is possible. What really surprises me is that I am the only one who thought of it.
By the way 8 alphas, one charlie on the hits.
Had a great time at a premier event. The moving armchair was too cool.

Regards
Mike
