Has anyone hunted the Elk on QCI? I heard that the access is tough, with no possibility to use vehicles or even horses.

I have friends in Masset. Only 1 or 2 get taken a year. Its bush wacking all the way. Locals actually go to region 7 to hunt Elk because its less hassle for a Rocky Mountain Elk. The herd is pretty small too.

there are places you can horseback in on the qci, a few locals do it every year we were told when we asked while deer hunting there but it is alot of work they said , but then so is deer hunting and grouse hunting if your not prepared properly

Its only worth it if you are a local. Why drive by elk country all over the province to get there and then face real tough odds and work that is barely worth the effort because you don't have the years of experience. If you are taking the ferry from the island it saves a lot of driving but still you could do better in the Kootenays if you plan on using horses or hike.

I've actually heard the trophy quality is no where near is good as the Kootenays.
