Query about life of bolt buffers

As the title says what is the average life of a bolt buffer, say tuffer buffers or whatever? Am I changing these out every 1000rnds? I just want to make sure before I go buy one if I need to have them handy and how many I need on hand in case the one i'm using decides to go tits up at the range.

As far as I know, they'll last the lifetime of your 10/22. Mine is around 4 years old yet looks and feels brand new...

I don't know how many 1000s mine has seen, I wipe the dirt off of it each cleaning and it looks and fits like new.

I just upgraded mine to one of those yellow ones, its definitely less "clank" but even my original after cases of 22 looks brand new
