quest for the perfect pistol.....

Sig

As some people have suggested, you could try a Sig Sauer. The P226 is a good one.
Selecting the "best" handgun is a very personal choice. I have tried several models of Glock, HK USP, Ruger, Berretta, and ended up with a Sig. The Sig Sauer P226 Sport II SL was the gun for me, but most people find it too heavy with the barel weight (around 50 ounces).

Try as many as you can

Now that is a very AVERAGE pistol by all counts, and there is a fair amount of consensus on this one. This is the quest for the PERFECT pistol. :)

You already owned the perfect pistol .... the HKP7. :)

Seriously though, the perfect pistol is probably the 1911. As a lefty as well, I have no problems with operating the controls. You will need a ambi safety but the other controls can be operated with the for-finger of your left hand.

I shot IPSC for years with a 1911 and never felt at any sort of disadvantage with this pistol because of my left handedness.

I thought you guys would come to the right answer on your own, but I guess I'll have to 'splain it to you. :p

- 1911 - a real gun
- .45 ACP - a real calibre
- Evil Black Tactical look invokes fear in the hearts of lesser men
- Shoots like a dream, the extra weight up front really enhances recoil recovery
- Grip checkering so sharp you can cut someone with it if you run outta ammo
- did I mention Evil Black Pistol?
- It's already loaded with all the goodies you need, but being a 1911 you can replace anything that strikes your fancy.
- General consensus among TRP Operator owners on 1911forums is "This is the one I'll grab if the commies get restless."
- It looks Evil. And it's Black. Evil and Black. Black and Evil.
- It's too cool for words. Just look at the picture and you'll know everything you need to know :)

A "perfect" pistol is like a "perfect" wife. Unobtainable. If you are not ready for compromises become a Tibetan Buddhist monk. No ###- no problem.

Yet sadly... it's a Springfield. (Cast steel, at times peculiar tolerances)

But you're close, personally I still feel the H&K P7 is best for an all around pistol as I see a pistol to be used, but as for 1911's go for Kimber or STI, Les Baer... Any of those three will do everything the Springfield will do, but with less concerns over metallurgy etc. (yes, I've shot a lot of nice Springfields too, but I've seen a couple real sour citrus fruits, same goes for Colt (I own that too so I can say :p ), but note I didn't recommend Colt for the 'ultimate' either...)

p7

X2 for the P7
Would like to see it a bit lighter, maybe alloy frame and in 45.
Yes I know 6 were made in 45.
Oh well one can dream/

Or the HK USP Match in 9mm. :) No loud comps and no crazy recoil. Accurate as hell. One HK you can actually get close to the test targets using your hands and not a machine rest. Scary even. :) I like mine. :)

The Glock 21 likely had the nicest grip of any gun I've owned (but I never actually shot my Glock).
What do you mean?
Did you get rid of it, without "actually" shooting it?
If so, how will you ever know which gun is best for you?
Try 20 shot groups at 25 yards, maybe the gun that gives the smallest group is best for you.
The HK P7M8 should be tested at 10 yard groups, it's a keeper!

OK, a couple issues here :p; P7M8 should deffinately be tested beyond 10 yards, I shoot mine at 25 and it's the most accurate pistol I own. Even beats my Kimbers. I can do 4" 8 round groups off hand at 25 with 147gr WinClean, happy to back that up too ;)

Next issue :p; I've had a TON of handguns I've never even shot, that just went in an out. I try the grip, controls, etc, and decide what it's future will be. Many get safed for ages before even making it to the range. :) Still have handguns I haven't fired.

I bought a Kimber TLE RL II I liked the way it looked and shot. I looked at STIs and I hate how they engrave the name on the side so big... but thats a cosmetic issue. I haven't got to shoot one yet but one day I'll buy one Im sure.

My vote go with a Kimber, if you were in BC I'd let you shoot mine :D

Winclean ammo is the way to go on the P7M8..... helps keep that gas piston crud-free.

Yeah. I've owned a couple and then sold 'em without shooting.... I know it defies logic, but that is how it is :p

UNCLE WALTHER Judging by your name.. tell me you havnt thought of a WALTHER P99. I just got mine and I truely think its the best gun ive seen for looks. With 3 seperate interchangable palm grips it fits my big hands as well as my wife's small hands comfortably.oh ya..its as accurate as hell too!!!
