Questar LAR 15 mag...should I cancel the order?

I JUST ordered a few a couple of min ago...... and then I read through the forum, some folks saying the mags are somehow causing jamming, mis-feeding and un-close-bolt-load issue......

my rifle is Core 15 M4, milspec upper and lower... is there going to be any issues with these flat-based grey mag????

I have the gun smith's shop right beside my company....i can take them there to modify if necessary.......but to be honest.....I want least trouble...

so can someone please tell me which M4's didnt like these mags and which did ??

i think i can still call to cancel the deal even if i have to pay 25$ but still........ if things are super bad, I dont want to run into big issues or even damage my gun :(

I've never had a problem with them. I usually buy one or 2 of something to try before I go whole hog and break the bank
 
I wouldn't cancel your order. Yes, there was a batch of some LAR mags that needed some filing to make them feed reliably, but for the most part they are pretty good. Either way, there is little risk of damaging your rifle. They will probably be fine.
 
Had to trim the bottom of the follower to get them to seat against a closed bolt.
Other than that they've worked ok.

do you mean I have to take out the bottom plate, take out the spring and take out the follower, then trim the follower?

yes guess that's okay when I try to install the coupler...

but how much do i have to trim? how thick ? and what shape? which part???

excuse me can you please go more specific?

I bought 20 LAR mags a few years ago and installed the magpul ranger plates on them. Once the ranger plates were on they would only hold 9 rounds, so I pulled all the followers and trimmed 3/32 of an inch off the follower leg. I just set up a jig on my small band saw and ran them all through. Now they hold 10 rounds and will go in easily on a closed bolt. I have a few thousand rounds through them now and none have ever jammed or failed to feed. I use them in a H&K MR223, as well as a custom AR I built myself.

If your not putting ranger plates on them you could probably pull them apart and just trim 1/16" off, reassemble, and test to see if they will seat on a closed bolt with 10 rounds.
 
I got 10 of 'em purchased this year - 4 I filed a little, 6 are as delivered. All run through my DPMS Oracle no problem.

Keep 'em - if they don't work for you sell them on the EE for 2X what you paid ;)
