Questars new 10 rnd .223 ar15 mags....

Just a question that I should have asked when the legal debate was going on. - Can I use these mags in a non - restricted Ar180b?

I came to this because it says pistol on it. On the other hand I would be using it in a non restricted firearm? And could they be used for hunting?

C-Products has indicated that a few "defective" springs may have "slipped through by accident" into our last batch of magazines. This would expain why a small percentage of the magazines are experiencing problems with the bolt hold open. In the magazines that we tested we have found one or two that were suspect.

The manufacturer has assured us that they will replace the springs on any that are an issue... if you received one of these magazines (that experiences a problem with the bolt not holding open because of a weak spring) then please contact me and we'll put you on a list to receive replacement springs.

Once we have a total number of affected mags C-Products will ship us the replacements for distribution.

Most of the shipment is not affected by this issue but there apparently were a small number of incorrect springs that slipped in. Our apologies.

Mark

PM inbound, going to need some new springs as I noticed when I got it that mine were VERY light to push down. I can see after a few thousand that they will be unable to hold the bolt open, if they could in the first place.

With an empty mag when I pull the bolt back and let it fly none of them catch... so... works great with my 30/5 Lanced CProds.
ETA on new springs?

yes use them in the ar180B

but NOT sure about hunting Ontario has named exemptions (same as the feds) m1 garand beltfed guns that can use MORE the 5 rnds for hunting I DO NOT think its legal to use more then 5 rnds for hunting with your rifle but call the C.O's to be sure

I believe most (if not all) provinces have a rule where you're not allowed more than 5 shot magazines in all centre-fire rifles when hunting. This is definitely the case in Ontario.

Good to hear that they can go in any fire arm that accepts them. Good that some one found a way out of that one. I'm glad. :dancingbanana:

It would be nice for coyotes but I'll check with the ministry first.

The magazine body is considered the magazine... not the follower, spring or base/floorplate, those are component parts.

Is this a legal stance? So does this mean magazine parts kits are illegal?

I believe that there are two somewhat conflicting opinions here.

As far as enforcement within Canada, a disassembled magazine is simply a collection of parts. However, for importation, an unpinned magazine tube is held to be a prohibited device by CBSA.

Enough all ready, for Christ's sake leave it alone, the mags are here, they are legal, and that's that. Any more discussion about the legalities of these things is going to be locked or deleted.

If they feed from different springs/followers and sections of the magazine I don't see the problem.
