I know these are great for Prairie Dogs, but, Could you hunt Coyotes with one of these, or would it be insufficient?
Thanks

Its got the speed, and a 20 gr Hornady may work fine with a well placed shot. Most will say no, and for good reason, its to easy to mess it up. And then there is the hide, and damage.
I find myself taking a 22 wmr with 40 gr HP out, and leaving the 17 at home when after those bigger vermin . If the fields are large its .223/6mm/243 time.
Here is a good page on the hmr round.

Thanks very much, I don't want to go out, take a shot at a coyote and have it end up running away with a bad wound.
Great site too!

That's a good question? From my experiences with the .22 LR and .22 Magnum, is think it is possible to take a coyote at 25-50 yards with a LR. Shot placement is critical and due to the small caliber there is a great chance for a wounded animal.

I think to do it humainly, a .22 Magnum would be the least amount of fire power I would suggest.
