Question about .22 Ammunition.

As far as I can remember, tracers are legal, however incendiary ammo is illegal. Some 7.62x39 tracer ammo pops up here and there on the EE, I've never encountered any .22 tracer yet.

I've seen the videos too, and wondered about legality here. I also wonder how hot they burn, as I don't have any disposable .22 rifle barrels. :)

I think the last time I saw some was in the late 60's and there were made by Gevelot, imported I think as the factory near Saskatoon Sk only did shot shells if I remember correctly.

I was told years ago they are illegal now but am not sure, wish I would have saved some however??

Tracers are legal to possess and use, where safe to do so. There is no supply of legal 22lr tracer currently available in Canada. They are available at Cabela's stateside, but still very pricy, and illegal to bring back. Those very tracers also get some poor reviews for lack of brightness/reliablility. NRCAN will almost assuredly not allow ANY attempt to import them legally.

So, YES they are legal, NO you can't get them.
