question about 38s&w

ok guys, newbie question...just surf up on the forums and need some info

im looking to get some 38s&w ammo and it seems that winchester and remington still make them
i find that remington have 380auto...is it the same? ive read that common name for that round is 38s&w, 38/200, 380 british..etc
just a little confused and need help from gurus!

Well, I'm hardly a guru, but I know a little about this dinosaur. The 380 auto is not the same, but I believe all other names you have listed are correct. You will probably find ammo prices quite expensive.
 
Nooooooo problem the .380 ( 9mm kurz) is a semi auto round where as the 38 S&W is a revolver round the '38-200' was a british designation for the weight of the bullet they would use in the 38 platform, 200 grains
 
"...38 S&W..." A short rimmed case using a .360" bullet, used in revolvers.
"....380 ACP..." A short rimless case using a light weight .355" bullet, used mostly in prohibited pistols.
Shooter's Choice in Waterloo, Ontario wants $39.95 per 50 for Remington ammo. It shouldn't be terribly difficult to find where you are though.
 
Here are the cartridges, they are not side by side, but you should get the idea. For those people who aren't aware, I also put in 38 Special, which is different than 38 S&W, also called 38 S&W New Police
