question about 7.62x54r cartridge

Hi all, just curious, the 7.62 x 54r cartridge is a rimmed cartridge, but from what I can see the primer is in the middle and so is the firing pin impact point?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question...but I'm really curious.

It's rimmed not rimfire.

being rimmed doesn't equal rimfire, it's a centerfire round.

Correct. Rimmed does not mean rimfire, which is what you seem to be thinking of.

There are many rimmed centrefire cartridges. For example: .38 Special, .44 Magnum, .45 Colt (not ACP), .303 British, .30-40 Krag, 7.62x54R mm. Traditional revolver cartridges (like the first three) tend to be rimmed.
