Question about a person`s "inbox".

I have a question about the "pm`s" How come I can never backtrack and see what I have sent to other members?
I deleted some out of my inbox, weeks later I was wondering what someone had sent. I knew I had replied to him, but in my "sent" folder it shows nothing.
Is this the norm???

You have to check the " save copy to sent folder " box befor sending the pm , it's under where you type the body of the message
