Question about a S&W 460

I am awaiting transfer for my 460 as i lost my rpal so they won't complete it until i get the new card.

I went in today to the store and got in a small argument with the sales guy.

The box the 460 came in says XVR but the gun has 460V on it, from what i see on S&W site the 5' barrel is the V which is what this one is and the 8.3/8 is the XRV, Im ok with the V but where I'm having a issue and wanna say #### this deal is the way he was talking ( I SELL THESE AND I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT )

I don't care if you sell em you can't say something is that when they never made in such spec, am i just pissed with CFO taking their time for my new card and taking it out on him or am in the right to say WTF stop smoking the good shyt.
Also this is the same guy that sold me and my bro Glock's and then started talking how Glock sucks and he would never waste his money on one ( Mind you he has 2 M&P's )
After $15000+ spent there in a 2 yr span I'm a little ticked with his attitude.
 
I don't ever expect a lot of intelligence from anyone when I walk into a gun shop or gun counter at any retail store. Its hard to find anyone with some intelligence and customer service skills these days so for me I'm never surprised when I run into these kinds of people.

So the guns serial number matches the box, the box's description doesn't match the gun... if you don't want it, let me know where it is and I'll see if I can make it happen... factory mistake from S&W... I'M IN!

You are correct the 5 inch is just called the 460V The 460 XVR (there are two or three different ones) are the long barreled version.

The guy at the shop just doesn't know. If you want the long barrel, then ask them to get you one or give you your money back. Just that simple.

The real question that needs to asked here is, why do you keep going back?

i just spent the week shooting my dads 460V
if you havnt shot one yet then do, by far the funnest gun ive ever shot!
its just ridiculous how much thump that gun has.
we spent today shooting about 100 357 mag each then moved up the to 460 for about 40 each.

its hard to explain but let me just say this.... its impossible NOT to smile after youve shot a 460, and i dare you to try!

im not sure what his box said but the gun has a V on the side above the grip (big V) and its the 5"

I just checked my 460 case, and there's no model in the description. Just S&W 460 and then barrel length. No V or XVR. (mine is the V model :D)

If it is the V, but there's XVR on the box, then it sounds like someone's playing revolver bingo. No biggie until they do inventory by label instead of checking contents.

As for the clerk being an a$$hat....well.... some people are just naturally a$$holes no matter the job. I find educating those types is too much work. I just smile, nod a bit, maybe a non-committal shrug or "yeah". Take it in stride, brush it off and move on.

Need more info. Moving from .357 to .460 is a big step in power. From a pure $$$ stand-point, stick with .22lr. We can only use these on the range, and the paper dies the same regardless. The 357 mag is no slouch, but it really pales in comparison next to the 460 mag. The concussion, the heat wave, the look of the other people on the line (or even other ranges) just can't be achieved with the 357.
Is that worth the money......I think so. ;)

Was at the indoor range this week and had the opportunity to shoot a 460. I have shot the 44 mag lots it jumps and is quite snappy so wasn't sure what to expect with this 460 with a muzzle brake.As the people above have commented it really puts a smile on your face...and stuffs a lot of pressure wave up your nose, couldn't breath for a second after each shot it was like having your head out the car window on the highway I'm sure the brake and being indoors contributed to that . Due to the muzzle brake the kick wasn't too bad.Apparently it rattled the security cameras pretty good too, as per the staff. One word..Ridiculous would i do it again .. absolutely. :)))
