If I had the equipment and skills to set back barrels myself, I might set up rifles with super long shanks and set them back. As it is, I don't have a lathe and would be paying someone to do it. Money-wise I'd rather pay to thread and chamber new barrel. The few set backs I've done seemed to last half as long as the first run. I'd rather pay the barrel maker more often than the gunsmith more often.
