Question about Browning trombone

Did the trombone ever come with a groved receiver for a scope?

Yes. Not sure of when in their history but I have one that is factory grooved.

From what I've found online, They were made from 1922-1974, with some 170,000 units produced. There were special edition models produced well after 1974. Sometime in the late 60s, the receivers were milled with scope grooves. The only serial number info that I could find is here.: http://proofhouse.com/browning/58_dating_sys.htm . Using that little bit of info, I am able to date mine to the late 40s, and it had no scope milling.
