Hi im about to make my purshase I was hesitating between this one and the savage 42 then I heard that the 42 was plagued by bad sights and bad 410 firing pin.....
I like that fact that savage makes a 22wmr version

Anyway I just learned yesterday that the double badger ALSO make has a 22WMR version model number 500.111 instead or 500.097.

I just found that by luck on internet as its clearly not Advertised on chiappa website.....

It seems to be out of stock in most retailers.....

What the status of the 22wmr version of this gun, is it out of production has it dosent exist on chiappa website??

Even on the retailers website it says 22wmr on the title then 22lr in the description......

I would like the 22wmr better.....

I purchased a WMR version from Wolverine a few weeks back. I had it out to the range for the first time yesterday. I didn't fire the .410 barrel as I wanted to check the accuracy of the WMR barrel. At the target centre, in between some 9mm holes, are the first 3 rounds fired from the gun. Each small square is 1/2" in size. The load used was 45 gr. Winchester Dynapoints, and the group was shot from 25m using the factory sights. In asking around, there is one small hiccup with using the rimfire barrel, and that is very tight chambers. Apparently I am not alone in having to pry the empty cases out of the chamber with a knife. Nevertheless, I'd say the gun will do well with head shots on grouse.

Handled one for the first time at epps last week. Very tight action to open and definitely needs to be broken in before smaller stature shooters try to wrestle it open. Not impressed personally and would rather spend the money on an old model 24 than either of your choices. Have you checked out the baikals yet?

I agree with marlin and Chuckbuster. I had to back the screws off just a bit on my action, so it now drops open and the .22 chamber is very tight.

Also on mine, I need to get a taller front sight post installed. Even with the rear sights bottomed out, it still shoots high.

Not to derail the tread, but can you point me to more info on this? I can't seem to find anything about this problem, but any help would be awesome!
