Gas to this crown land is 35 km away each way and would probably be about $15
I also have friends who would like to shoot and thats why crown land is a good option imo.
Why is everybody trying to talk me out of it and pay $1000 to go to a range? Is there something wrong with doing this? I though it was ok and it seems to be legal so I dunno![]()
I live probably right down the street from you. I know, on our side of the lake it is frustrating.
I ended up joining Alliston District Sportsmans Club. It's around $200 a year and you have to put in time cleaning and building up the ranges, but we have a 200 yard rifle and a restricted pistol, both outdoors. The only drawback is the rifle range is..like...the other side of friggin Camp Borden so it's an hour drive to and from.
I am looking for some crown land to shoot on too, but if we are gonna do it, lets look for something big, like 300-400. I am waiting to buy my 308, and once I get some instruction at the ADSC rifle range from my peers, I would be happy to help you figure out if it's OK and talk to the people we need to talk to to get clearance.
In my experience, paperwork is your best defence. Get documentation from everyone you can when they say its OK to shoot there, the lessor, the owner, the police the goverment whatever.
