Well, I'm registered for a hunting course next weekend. Here's my question.

What will I be able to hunt in the fall? I'm too late for all of the draws for tags... So what can I hunt? Small game? Deer? Moose? Birds?

I have been invited to go moose hunting this fall if I pass... Will I be able to shoot one? Or will it be no tags, no shoot?

Thanks!

Too late for draw. Should be able to get deer tags... depending where you want to hunt. Small game yepers. Deer if you get a tag. Moose .... hahahaha, chances are no unless you go to an outfitter that's got tags. Getting tags out here for moose is murder. Birds, small game license for upland, migratory for well ... migratory birds (get that one at the post office).

When you get your papers saying you passed, go to one of those service Ontario locations and get a license, they will give you a paper temporary and then your good to go as soon as you walk out (providing you already have a PAL which I'm assuming you do).

X2 what Lucky07 said. Drive the paperwork to the local MNR office/service Ontario locations and they will issue you licenses there until you get your permanent card. You're SOL for draws this year though...

You will be able to buy a calf tag valid for most WMU's as well as an antlered deer tag for most WMU's and a small game licence. Since you will then have a licence to hunt moose, you can party hunt any moose that your party has a valid tag for (there are specific but not too hard to meet rules for party hunting as discussed in the annual Ont hunting guide).

you can hunt for anything once ya pass the test and buy your tags but .for deer you will only be able to take a buck, moose only a calf all small game and bear and geese or ducks if you get a migartory game bird licence

I can't stress this too much! .....

Beware of this type of general advice! It's 'sort of' correct but doesn't go far enough!

You could end up like those guys on You Tube.

Every region has different rules and limits as to what you can take, and these rules can change (in confusing fashion sometimes), in the middle of the season! You can't just "hunt for anything once you pass the test and buy your tags..."

Once again, get the regs, and learn how to read them ... or get an experienced hunter to help explain them.
