So, I dug up a bunch of jacketed and plain lead bullets from a back stop. Any thoughts on what Brinell hardness the lead would be? They have been turned into blocks in a Lyman mold, but I segregated plain lead from jacketed, in case the BH is different.
I know- I should buy a Lee hardness tester. And I will.

The jacketed ones are usually soft lead. The plain ones are right on the money for remelting and casting. But as you mentioned a hardness tester is a good piece of hardware to have. I paid 120US $ for mine but working with it is smooth like a ####star buttocks.

what he said, accept i wouldn't bother with a hardness tester because my unknown lead is for pistol calibre, known lead is for rifle. I powder coat and am very confident in my lube and gas checks if i'm really pushing it.
