Hey guys,

Just wonderimg if the Hogue tamer grip for the mossberg 500/590 can be installed on a 590 with a 6 position collapsible stock? The reason I ask is because every video and picture I can find for it shows it being used with mossberg shotguns that are pistol grip only and have no stock. If anyone can give me some help, that'd be great. I'd really love to have a Hogue.grip on my 590.

The Hogue Tamer Pistol grips for shotguns are just that... pistol grips. You cannot add a stock to them. If you wanted a Hogue grip on your shotgun your best bet would be to find an AR adapter for a 590 and add a colapsible stock to it.

I already have the 6-position, adjustable, AR-15 style stock on the 590. It came with it. But I'd like a Hogue grip because I love the way they feel. That Tamer grip looks so nice too, I'm disappointed. Would a regular AR-15 Hogue Grip work?

Nope. Unless your stock has a removable pistol grip you will not get this to work. I have a Hogue Tamer PG on my PGO 500. They are very good grips but they are not compatible with anything else and are standalone pistol grips.

Can you take a picture of your 590?

It already has an AR style stock on it? I'm assuming it also has a pistol grip then too? If it does and it is of the removable kind you should be able to replace it with any AR15 pistol grip.

Hogue AR15 grip, I have one on my S&W M&P 15

Unsure what M4/AR15 stock he has on his 590A1 but it may have a removable pistol grip on it... if it does he could put a Hogue on it. Never had a 590A1 with an M4 stock so I don't know... I have an ATI M4 500/590 kit sitting in the box.

There is the DTAC Mongoose stock that uses the Hogue pistol grip, it's a sliding stock with a recoil dampening function, though it appears to have limited adjustment for length.

The gun I have is like this:

Can I just unscrew the grip (flat head screw is what holds it on) and screw on a Hogue AR-15 grip?

You may have a problem with that high lip on the top of the Hogue AR15 grip (check the pic I posted), but if the stock one comes off, it should fit. I really like the Hogue AR grip on my AR15.

You can buy 2 Hogue Grips for an AR-15. One has a dovetail, as you posted above, and the other doesn't. After looking at everything I'm pretty sure I can just buy the one without the dovetail and it should work. Thanks guys! :)

You are correct. The "beavertail" grips are very, very nice but you run the risk of it not fitting without modifying it. Getting a standard grip, you have nothing to worry about...
