Question about Hot Bluing

I have a recipe for hot bluing that calls for the use of distilled water. Is it possible for the distilled water to absorb dissolved minerals from the use of a galvanised metal tank?

I the hot Caustic Blueing process you must only use Steel Tanks ie [Back Iron] ,and the use of Galvanized Tanks is a NO NO the Cyanide in the Plating will kill your Chemical Emultion ,The use of Distiled water is not required,
We have been Hot Blueing for over 40yr & have never used Distiled Water

I should clarify by saying that this is a rust bluing process using Laurel Mountain Forge barrel brown, and it does call for the use of distilled water.
