Hey Guys,

I am considering signing a hunting lease....and have some questions: what do you guys pay? How much per year? Per person? How much land? When do you have access?

Isn't it illegal to "acquire a hunting lease"? In Alberta it's against the law to charge for access for hunting purposes. I'm sure lots of palms get greased by outfitters, but technically verbotten, at least in Alberta.

Not illegal in ON. Lots of people around here rent properties to hunt on. This is what happens when you have a large amount of hunters and a large amount of private land. Nowhere else to hunt.

I knew a hunter that started the lease game in our area paying $200 a year to hunt a 100 acre farm with a 15 acre bush. The joining farms around this property allowed anyone that asked to hunt on their property. The second year it was $100 and now it's free again.
Not much game on farm and a lot of time spent posting and keeping tresspassers off.

$500 may be a good deal until next year when someone wants to pay a $1000 to hunt that land so how much are you willing to pay?
