I'm picking up an m44 with a bend bolt, one I believe was bent by a sporter.
How often were the bolts on these rifles bend by the manufacturers?

If I want a straight bolt, can I just buy a new handle that'll screw in, or do I buy a stripped bolt body and put my bolt components in it?

Also, numrich doesn't sell m44 straight bolt bodies, will a 91/30 body fit?

I'm buying a straight bolt body myself. The bent bolts are ugly and impractical. I'm not sure if a 91/30 body will fit, but if you find an M44 simply switch the internals.

Bent bolts were only used on snipers that I know of. A screw in handle will give you nothing but grief & weaken the bolt at the same time. A 91/30 handle will fit, just swap the parts. If you want, I have a standard bolt body I will swap you for the bent one (shiney too).

All mosin bolts are the same, you can just swap the parts over, this was done quite commonly by all countries during rearsenalling(my Finned Westinghouse nagant's bolt has parts from tula, izzy and westinghouse in it). Might wanna have headspace checked after though...
