Question about Mossberg 500 bolt...

When you've got the bolt assembly out of the gun and you depress the bolt locking block, should it return to the "up" position nice and smoothly via the spring tension on the firing pin or is some drag and minor "sticking" normal?

I'm not in a position to function test the gun yet and am wondering if I've got an issue to deal with still before reassembly. Maybe there's some shmag and burring that needs to be removed and polished out??
 
When in used the bolt slide locks and unlocks the locking lug. The spring is an assist feature to give it some tension. Just use the gun. It took a 100 or so rounds for my 590A1 to break-in.
 
The spring on the firing pin is a rebound spring for the firing pin it has nothing to do withy he locking of the bolt that is strictly mechanical and works off of the action slide arms when the forarm is pulled forward
 
older 500 A's do not have a firing pin spring.on the older bolts the "locking lug" (or whatever it's called) is tight
because the 2 extractor springs push directly on the lug from both sides.if you take the bolt apart you may find gouges on the lug
from the springs.
