I am looking into owning a shotgun again recently . Does the Mossberg 835 ulti-mag any good? What is the difference between 535 and 835 in terms of quality?
I believe it's the 835 has overbore and ported barrels the 535 does not. they both should 2 3/4- 3 1/2" shells. I have a 835 and it's a great gun thus far cycles really well i'm able to hit trap targets fairly well. Good customer service thus far for bits and parts. Overall I'm quite happy with the gun, compared to the 870 the Mosseberg is lighter in the hand.
Thanks. 308BAR and berreta boy. When I see "you get what ypu pay for", I become cautious. Usually, it means that the thing I am getting is a load of crap . Anyway, the Remington Express is really not impressive to me at all . I prabably get the 835 synthetic with twin beads. I had problem shooting the front bead only barrel. I just noticed the P-D-ENT raised the price for it by $20 this week. Too bad for me .
One thing is make sure it fits you well I not a big guy (5'6") but the LOP is a little unconfortable. However I got use to shooting it and it doesn't bother me any more.
No one said "load of crap" ... but Mossberg never has been "top of the class", or "the pump gun to which all others must measure up".
Decent enough gun for the money. And the 835 has a few more features than the 535, as have been set-out.
If I just had to have a camo'd-up pump for waterfowl or turkey, I'd prefer the Remington "Super-Mag" in Max 4 HD.. and switch the pad to an R3.
Bye the bye ... you shouldn't be focussing on the beads anyway, you should be focussed on the target. If a shotgun fits properly, you don't even need a bead(s)
