and here's another from someone on the forum:

Why does mine have 2 notches in the rail as apposed to the other one having 3? Mine was one of the first 10 in Canada so I'm thinking it has something to do with that? Is the third notch an improvement of some sort?

Just a guess, but wouldn't it be for those items that require a perpendicular rail instead of a normal one? In which case, you would only have a choice of two positions as opposed to three. Or it could just be esthetics?

It might be completely false as well (I don't know much about rails and accessories), so don't take me too seriously. :)

Does your 2 notch rail have factory tritium sights?

I think I read somewhere that the 3 notch have tritium sights and the 2 notch rail only has tritium sights on "tactical model" ?

If it has ambi-saftey and 2 notch on rail I don't think they came with night sights..../

Hey, note the single nubbin model I found:

oops, just noticed, it's the P-01, not SP01... Never mind ;)

Nevermind... I misread the previous posts

But to add to the conversation I believe that the 3 slot SP-01 Tactical is an older version. All of the SP-01 models seem to have 2 slots now.

2 notches was the original, then when the long dustcover was a bad thing last spring for IPSC, they had a short run with a third notch cut and then shortened front of frame so it was not as long as the slide ( gun used by Adam Tyc and a few others), when the LDC was found not to cause end of world, frame bobbing stopped but third notch remained.

ohhh yes, the world of IPSC politics...

BootsSiR,
Just incase you feel very upset with your "Limited Edition 2 notch SP01", I can trade my CZ 75B satin nickel with you and you can get a 3 notch later:D

It does have the factory Tru Dot Tritium sights... and ambi-safety... and it's not a tactical model.

I posted your question over at CZone forum and got 1 response.

The 3 notch version is the most current..
on the safety version..the 2 notch rail came with illuminated sights, the 3 notch version comes with actual night sights..
not sure about the differences in the decocker model.
