i have a quick question that is Norinco 1911 is as much safe as any other high quality 1911 when carried round in the chamber and cocked and locked?
thanks in advance.

In my experience with mine: yes. No difference whatsoever since it's a COPY of the same design used by the more expensive models.
I would put mine up against any other stock 1911 with regard to accuracy, reliability and safety anyday.

My thumb safety is not reliable. It can happen with any brand but I am not sure that the guys who make/fit the parts know their purpose.

...and I wouldn't call it a high quality 1911; good for the price, but the fitting is average at best. The employee who sold it to me said honestly "Sir, they are economical guns".

I put an aftermarket good quality safety on mine and later found it popping off, went back to the Nork safety which works.

The safety must be fit to the pistol. It is not a drop-in part.

If your thumb safety is "not reliable", get thee to a pistolsmith forthwith.

I've had thumb safeties that dropped in and worked perfectly, and others that I let someone skilled sweat and swear over. With Norcs my experience has been good in that regard. That said, "if your thumb safety is 'not reliable' get thee to a pistolsmith forthwith" is worth repeating.

I'll take you up on that challenge.

And I'll even let you pick which one of my three stock 1911s that I get to use. (S&W 1911, STI Trojan or Kimber Stainless Target II).

Let's see if you have the parts to 'put your money where your mouth is'.....

While I suppose it could be said that the S&W 1911, STI Trojan and Kimber Stainless Target II would be "stock" if they were as they were issued by each individual manufacturer, I'm wondering if he meant a 'stock' 1911, as in, mil-spec issue [i.e. no adjustable sites, ambi safeties or other "improvements"].................
