I have been reloading my own 45acp .I noticed that my OAL differs occasionally when Iam making a batch ,its not much of a difference is this normal.

It is probably a function of the press you are using. Is it a progressive press?

What bullets, brass?

Finally how much of a diff are you talking about?

I find I have a difference of a few 10ths of an inch when reloading for .303 because of slight variations in the length of the bullet. I guess the seating die doesn't push down on the tip, but pushes on the sides. Something similar may be happening with you.

There must be some "give' or "play" somewhere in your equip...consistent seating depth is necessary for good accuracy in accurate rifles, I don't see why the .45 auto would be any different.
