Question About Semi-Auto Rumors…

Hey GUNNUTZ,
I was about a month away from buying an M14s. Now with resent chatter, I’ve been told it may not be possible. If I were to place an order with one of the companies that carry this firearm tomorrow, and the rumors are true. Will I still be able to acquire it, or even be able to keep it if I do get it? Thanks folks…chev

If you don't have ownership of the rifle you're going to be SOL if they decide to grandfather. The government wants to make sure nobody has any firearms, they could care a less about your current intentions of owning one. Credo of the western world: Just pay your taxes and f-off!!

Canada isn't a country, it's a feedlot.

based on past behaviour it is definitely better to own it before something happens... But let's not let that happen, write a letter.
letters are great. but call, call every cpc # you can find.when they call back ,call another #. make sure our angry voices resonate in thier heads ,so the next time they think of another stupid idea they know we'll be back to stand up for ourselves. letters, fax's, e-mails, and any other crafty ideas you can muster.

I haven't seen or herd any info to authenticate these rumours. People should get a life and quit making things up. You shouldnt have registered your rifles anyways.

Buy 1 already.

Worst case senario is that they say you have to keep it forever.

They CANNOT SEIZE IT without paying you out.

You don't want to keep it forever? keep the receiver & sell all of the internals.

It's not like it hasn't happened before.

Sure they can. Ask any SPAS-12 owner.

There were very few SPAS-12s in Canada.

A friend of mine had his rifle seized ~ prohibited w/o grandfathering. There were 5ish known in Canada, 1 seized, 1 turned in, 3 unaccounted for. His mags sold to a "law enforcement professional" who said "f**k them"

The judge said(para-phrased): "yes it is unconstitutional, but for the "public good" I'll let them seize it"

However there is a big difference between prohibiting 20 guns scattered across the country, and pis8ing off 20,000 people who really didn't care what you did to someone else 2 days ago.

No property rights entrenchments exist in the current charter.

APRI is an example of a group fighting to get this changed. try reading here:

One arguement is that the whole C.17 was a smoke screen to create a prescident for seizure of (any/all) private property without compensation, the guns were just incidental to the real plan.

5 known in Canada, right. I can think of 5 I know to have been in one place at one time. These are not the only ones that were in town either.
