question about small game

Was out last week for grouse and hare. Walked/rode bush trails till we found some grouse. Either found them on the path or flushed em and followed them into the bush.

For hare, we found they were coming out of the replanted pine forests around sundown. Headed out about an hour before last legal light and bagged two per night out of the same stretch over two nights.

Saw lots of folks on quads. Saw far more grouse than we got a shot at.

Coming down from the mountain yesterday I fanned on one bunny (shot over it's head) came around the switchback and chased another into the trees where it died peacefully.

Earlier in the day I flushed a grouse into a replant area while looking for deer, went back to the truck for the grouse gun and he also died peacefully in the tree he flown into earlier.

Grouse are hit and miss on the roads this year but they are there, just find a covered grassy area and go for a walk.......you will flush them.

I don't go looking for the small game, they just end up in my freezer/crock pot out of happenstance.

honestly with small game just walking around in the bush randomly has proved the best for my self.

Rabbits will often sit on the edge of trails when the sun comes up. trying to warm them selves up.

Just do the same as per most animals. look for sign of life and food supply.
