If you use the modified or improved cylinder choke it will be fine. Many will say the steel in the older guns will damage the bore over time. So if you don't mind the possibility of scratching the bore, go for it. Others say the shot is surrounded by the shot cup as it travels through the bore and doesn't harm it. There are thousands out there who are shooting steel through older guns and have had no problem. Even if it does mark the bore over time, how long will it take compared to how much shooting the average hunter does. The other alternative is to let it sit in the corner and collect dust. So it becomes a personal choice.
