Question about Tactical Lights

Streamlight TLR-2 will do a good job.

Although anything can be mounted onto an AR platform. I have a Glock GTL 22 on a rail here (optional laser only, light + laser, light only switches). Remember the green laser is visible in daytime, and has longer range than red. I have no problems with the red, nice and bright at 100 yards at night.

Take a class. Then decide. You need to understand how you are going to use it in your system in order to choose the best product.

X2 - Have played with both and have had TLR 1 on my AR for quite a while. If they where within $20 of each other I say get which ever one you like as they are so close in performance. But $160USD difference!!! That is retarded...

PS- Here is the BEST laser sight ever. You could totally ruin the Predator,Batman AND Wolverine (in a 3 on 1 deathmatch) with this biatch!!!!

What class???? worst case the light would be for combat, laser for training my kids, better target acquisition, and fun factor..

Now what I was originally looking for was which is better and is it really worth buying one.

my opinion In the real world, if I personally was shooting at night against someone with a taclight I would be shooting at the light as there would be someone behind it.
 
I put an NcStar tactical light/laser on my M4. Man that light is bright not to mention the laser. For just a little over $100.00 it's a pretty good setup. I wouldn't want it pointed in my face as it is blinding. I agree that shooting at the light might get the person holding the gun that's why you don't use it until your ready to rock and roll. It would be hard for the other person to shoot when he has nothing but spots in his eyes. Just using the laser would intimidate an agressor when he knows that he has been targeted.

Any of the SureFire, SIG Academy, InSights, Thunder Ranch, GunSite or other reputable schools that can teach you combat proven and researched skills and data on lights, fighting in low light, etc so you don't have to rely on "my opinion In the real world" since you probably have no experience in the real world shooting with a light, or in self defence, at a light etc...

Well I don't see this happening in Canada unless I take a course over the border.

For starters, your decision to shoot at the light is flawed. IF you can see the light, the individual(or team) with the WEAPON MOUNTED light can see you and has the advantage. Second, if the light in question is not mounted, its probably not inline with the body to prevent getting shot in the vitals.

As for training. Several schools have come to Canada for classes. For those that either won't or don't come to Canada. Go south and train.

Not only can they see you, their weapon is mounted and pointing at you... LOL
