Question about the Falcon Merlin Scope

They are Japanese optics and they scopes are assembled in the UK. I asked the very same question for probably the very same reason... :)

Does anyone know where those scopes are made? Are they made in China:D ?

The glass for these scopes is sourced from Japan and made to Falcon's strict specs (as you probably know, they make very good glass). The tube and some of the other parts are sourced from China. All of these parts are brought to the UK and go through a very strict quality control process and are then assembled at the Falcon plant in the UK.

The European contract scopes that I brought in to try were completely built in Japan under contract from Falcon. This is what is reviewed by Jamie in the above post and it is a very high calibre optic.

Will Falcon make a variable power scope?

We carry one of their variables right now. It is 4-14x42 with mildot. They are working on a new line of variables as well that will be released later this year. The new ones will be 10-40x56 and 12.5-50x56.

The new Menace Series should be available in the UK next week in mildot only, MP20 will be a couple of weeks yet. I should have some by the end of next week or early the following week.

I picked up one of the 4-14x42 variables, looks to be a very decent scope. Clear sharp imageing easy focusing and side paralax adjustment.
So far it looks like an incredible value for the money. There are two shade tubes and a removeable 4 inch diameter paralax adj wheel as well as screw on lens caps included as well.

We'll see when it's mounted on a rifle, how well it performs under fire and recoil. All looks to be first class workmanship so I doubt there will be andy problems.
The reticle is quite unique in that it isn't solid black, but outline images other than the central crosshairs and mildots. Should be easy to get used to, especially for long range varminting. Allen Gunworks is very good to deal with by the way. bearhunter

Windage and Elevation
Each click represents 1/4" Adjustment 100 yards
Actual Elevation Adjustment Range (Optically Measured @ 10x Magnification)
110" (@100yards)

the menace ones look like what i need to put on my Stevens 200 tacticool to replace the tasco
are they going to be available in the 10-40X56 with the MP20 reticle? and do they come with the extra sunshades?

The 1/4" is the fixed power 10x42. The variable 4-14x42 is 1/8". I will try to get some updated specs on the 10-40x56 and the 12.5-50x56 this week.

The only Menace that will be available in the near future is the 10x42 with mildot. The MP20 will be out in a few more weeks. The longer range ones mentioned above are due "later in the year". Not sure what that means exactly.

thanks for clearing that up
i figure by the time my barrel is in and paid for and the brake is installed and paid for the longer range menace line will be in and i will have have calmed the mrs down enough to let me order one ;)

Windage and Elevation
MOA Models - 1/4MOA per click. 15MOA per turret revolution. Total elevation = 120MOA

(Menace specs)
That's not a typo is it? Most won't need a special MOA mount then to stretch out to 1000.

What? No mention of the 2.5-10x that Jamie tested? That's the one that I'm interested in, when will it become available (with MP20?) and what other details can you give us?

The 2.5-10x50 was a scope that Falcon had left over from a European contract. I got some to test the waters so to speak. Because of the positive reception it received, Falcon is going to make another run of them and make them their "flagship" scope. Based on recommendations made by us, they will be doing another run of these scopes in a 5-20x50 format. It will be 3 months at the earliest before these scopes are sent to production. They haven't decide whether it will sport the MP20 or mildot.

I will be getting 4 more of the 2.5-10x50 in the next order. Two of them are already spoken for.
