Looking at the S&W M&P 9mm Range and Carry Kit.

I'm not sure which version of the firearm is being sold in the kits for the Canadian market.

Specifically what safety's it does or doesn't have ie: magazine disconnect, external safety etc. ?

Any help appreciated...thanks

Bought mine in Dec/Jan this year (ordered Boxing Day, shipped out early Jan) and it doesn't have mag disconnect or external safety.

I believe since the revision in 2010, they all come with no mag disconnect (with the caution on the right side) and no external safety standard.

Thanks for the feedback. Is there any safety on this firearm ? ..I'm not sure if it's DA/SA or just a heavy SA trigger.

I wonder if this is the standard for the kit in Canada.

(edit: didn't see the reply above)

The M&P9/40/45s all have the trigger safety similar to the Glock in function. The action will not fire unless there is a deliberate pull on the trigger. There is no DA/SA or heavy trigger like a revolver. The external and mag safeties are just different options that are available.

They have the same safety that ALL firearms have, it's grey and is located between the ears of the guy holding the gun.

yeah....thanks for the tip

but the M&P's DO have a variety of safeties options available and I was trying to find out which flavour specifically is being shipped in the Canadian version of the range kit.

thanks for the info !

What makes you think there is a Canadian version?

M

ok...let me re-phrase...

I'm just trying to find out what safeties the M&P has....that's being packaged in the the range/carry kit.....that is currently available for purchase.....in Canada.

Or more specifically....is the range/carry kit a "is what it is" kit....or can you specify what safety options the firearm will have ie: mag disconnect/external safety vs no disconnect/external safety ?

hope that's more clear

thanks for the help guys.

Based on the responses here from those who actually have purchased the kit it looks like the firearm in the kit is DAO and with no mag-disconnect and no external safety...which is what I was hoping for.

thanks again.

It matters to me...I don't want either safety's...and by the sounds of it, the pistol in the kit comes with neither.

The mag disconnect is a proper pain in the behind if the gun is being used to shoot an action shooting sport like IDPA that requires the gun to unloaded, proved clear, and Dry Fired before being reholstered. The need to insert an empty mag into the gun to dry fire is a pain in this situation...

I say this as both a competitor, and IDPA Safety Officer. It drives me nuts when a shooter has to put a mag back into a gun that was just proven clear to dry fire it.

BTW I have a M&P9 Pro, no mag disconnect in it, which is one of several reasons I chose that Modle.

Ah, thanks for the explanation
