ISS here in Surrey has unissued SKSs on sale for $149 tomorrow, I'm thinking about going and getting one. I already have a refurbished one that had the stock replaced. My question is, does unissued also mean not refurbished? or do you think it may still possibly be a refurb? I know at that price who cares, I am just wondering exactly what does unissued mean? Please don't ask me to call the store its after hours and they open tomorrow for a one day sale.

Thanks in advance

I've got an un-issued SKS. They're mostly in great shape with mint bores and deep bluing. If you pick one up for $149 then go for it. Kind of scared to shoot mine since its such perfect shape.

Not sure if non-refurbished ones would also be un-issued. A lightly used issued one would probably not get refurbished.

Unissued means they have never been issued for use. Very rare and I am dubious of anyone selling those so cheap. Unrefurbed/As issued means they have been used but haven't been back for arsenal refurb. Generally used very little so were not deemed needing refurbishment. The first most collector value. Second the next in collector value. Refurb means they have been back to arsenal for anywhere form light to extensive refurbishment. These are like new weapons or should be but will have force matched replacement parts, stocks etc. Least collector value but they will work like a new weapon. You won't degrade collector value by shooting as opposed to the first two as collector value for these here in Canada is low.

By the way what is ISS

International Shooting Supplies... they are a firearms store out of Surrey BC... they say the regular price is $219

They are supposed to be a black bayonet if that means anything other that the color, in terms of history

Pay particular attention to Sections 6&7.

All russians with dark bayos except the original '49 with the black spike bayo are REFURB.

The term Unissued can be misapplied easily if you don't know what it means. True unissued were never issued to anyone Originally in the home country while there stored for Military or Security services use. Unissued new in box means it hasn't been issued since refurb and being boxed to be sold here after export. BIG difference. These are Refurb plain and simple. Still a good deal though if you want a shooter.

For $149 bucks would love to get a second one myself. As long as it's Russian. I can get ones here in town for $220 with a sliver bayonet which isn't bad as there is no shipping.

Very cool and thanks for the clarity & the link. I'm not really a collector at this point but maybe someday, though I can't see owning something I don't shoot at all or at least not often. I think I will brave the cold and pick one up for a shooter. I had this idea I would keep one SKS original and mod one with a Tapco or ATI stock.

Yeah they are Russian, I paid $169 for mine with a refurb stock, these ones at $149 are a steal, I think I will get the 700 rounds of surplus they have for $109 too

Collector or not it is still good to know and understand what it is you are getting for the money. These are a great deal for a shooter for sure though, and a great price for ammo.

I would trust it forsure, I know the store and know the sale, that said , #### surplus, they SHOULD (If same as last year) Have pretty much 30% off all ammo, or similar, if they have any non surplus 7.62, it will be MFS or barnaul for 170 500 rounds, with 30% off it will be around 120. (I only say this because wolverine supplies has surplus 7.62 of that same kind, 1440 for $209. 553 left, so you can buy that for that price anytime you like really, buy the NON corrosive while you can get it cheap ya know?)

Get there REALLY early, last year , before I got there, there was a massive line up, and I missed out on all kinds of stuff, including any optics specials and all the SKS's they had, also , I got the last crate of 7.62 500 for 130 , and I got the last 500 rounds of 9mm, I think I paid about 80 bucks.

I see it now, barnaul for 139, get that, as much as you can, by it cheap and stack it deep. ESPECIALLY if you plan on shooting that unissued SKS , I only shoot non corrosive and STILL clean my SKS still its perfectly clean after every use.

Wholesale Sports out in Langley had the Czech stuff, 1200 rounds on stripper clips for $199 but were out when I was last there, was told there are 60 crates on order but they couldn't give me a date when it was arriving. I'm going to keep checking with them and think I'll go that route. I don't mind shooting the corrosive, I clean always after shooting right away.
